Ark hosts chapel blessing

HOULTON, Maine — The Ark Animal Sanctuary will hold several events this month to celebrate the holidays and the opening of their new facility.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, bake sales will take place outside Hollywood Pet Salon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at Pleasant View Tree Farm from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Broadcasts of high school hoop planned

Townsquare Media and WHOU 100.1 FM, as well as an online service based in Easton, are broadcasting high school basketball games this winter on the airwaves and over the internet.

The station 101.9 FM The Rock will air 30 games after taking last year off. Broadcast veteran Bill Casavant returns to the airwaves to handle the play-by-play, while Ryan Guerrette, Jeff Clockedile and Dillon Kingsbury are also part of the broadcast team.

Games will also be streamed on www.1019therock.com

Aroostook Musterds slates challenge awards

The Aroostook Musterds Running Club will be presenting awards for its 34th County Challenge Series at The Par and Grill Restaurant in Caribou at 5 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 17.

Leo Kashian, a Musterds officer, kept track of accumulated points and athlete participation in eight county road races in determining the most consistent and stronger runners of all ages.

Shires earn football accolades

BREWER, Maine — On Sunday, eight members of the Houlton football team were honored at the Little Ten Conference annual All-Conference Banquet.

Defensive tackle Damon Reynolds was named to the All-Academic Team, as well as first-team defense. Reynolds was also named to the first-team offense for guard.

Linebacker and running back Austin Brown was named to the second-team defense as well as second-team offense.
