Wednesday, November 9
– Tr. Casavant arrested a 33-year-old Mapleton man after he turned himself in for violating a protective order. The subject was prohibited from entering a family member’s home, but did so anyway. Once the subject committed the violation he went to Presque Isle Police Department and turned himself in. The subject was also charged with violating conditions of release.

HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Police Department responded to the following incidents from Nov. 6-12.
Sunday, Nov. 6
7 05 a.m. — Off. Quint responded to Fair Street for a welfare check.
11:58 a.m. — Off. Bickford responded to North Street to investigate a burglar alarm.
The bowling action continues at the Birch Point Bowling Alley in Island Falls. In men’s league play, the standings as of Monday were: 1, Rough Riders, 26-6; 2, Intimidators, 24-8; 3, Gutterballs, 18-14; 4, Skinner Sandbaggers, 12-20; 5, Strike Force, 8-24; 6, Pinners, 8-24.
Winner of the high single and series for the week went to Joe Bishop, 149/371. The team high single belongs to Rough Riders, 535, while the team series belongs to Intimidators, 1,524.
Young hockey players in the Southern Aroostook Minor Hockey Association enjoyed a busy weekend of skating.
On Saturday, in Carleton, New Brunswick, Aroostook Auto Tech peewees won 4-0 over Florenceville. Scoring goals were Maddie Marino (two), Garrett Fitzpatrick and Jed Gilpatrick. Sunday at St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Aroostook Auto Tech peewees lost 5-2. Goals were scored by Maddie Marino and Lucas Gregory, with assists for Marino and Josh McGillicuddy.
Houlton High School is hosting a four-week baseball camp starting Jan. 29. HHS head coach Jim Castner will direct the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven players per coach.

Rev. Albert Burleigh, commonly known around town as “Deacon Al,” will begin serving as chairperson starting in January 2017. The annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service planned by SAMA members will take place at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.
