1941: Currier takes the reins

115 Years Ago – Dec. 11, 1901

     Salmon — Quite a few landlocked salmon fingerlings from the Caribou hatchery have been placed in different waters during the past two weeks. Some 5,200 were released in Nickerson lake, 3,400 in Drew’s lake, 3,000 in Spider lake and 3,000 in Munsungan lake.

CAP sets open house

PRESQUE ISLE — The County Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol will hold an open house on Saturday, Dec. 10, at their Presque Isle Operations center, 955 Missile Drive, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rotary declares fifth Polio Day a success

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — With the help of Rotary Clubs in Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Limestone, Mars Hill and Washburn, the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the Presque Isle Rotary Club have declared the fifth annual World Polio Day and Purple Pinkie Project celebration, held Oct. 22-29 throughout central Aroostook, an overwhelming success.
