Imposters giving clowns a bad name

To the editor:

     What if I told you the latest hot topic has everyone scared of the wrong thing? Everyone needs to stop confusing people in terrible costumes for clowns. I know clowns. I am a clown, or as we spell it in The County, “klown.”

An exciting discovery

To the editor:

     I was given some very important, perhaps life-saving information recently about diabetes that I never heard in my eight years of diabetes. I’d heard much about exercises burning up some of the excess glucose in all the body’s organs and blood, but no one ever mentioned to me something that works much better, perhaps even better than some medications. No one even explained why everyone should drink eight glasses of fluid a day, except that it’s healthy.

Drug take-back day coming up

 

Police departments collected 31,960 pounds of medication last year

     In an effort to reduce access to and abuse of prescription drug abuse all 11 police departments in Aroostook County are available to receive and serve as prescription disposal sites all year long. This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Agency on Aging reminds Medicare beneficiaries that open enrollment, also known as the annual election period, will begin Oct. 15 and run through Dec. 7, 2016.

‘Power’ aids local food pantries

     AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Power of Prevention, a program of Cary Medical Center, has assisted 11 food pantries in northern Aroostook County with self-assessments aimed at identifying their needs and strengths. This has led to over $10,000 in funding for the northern Aroostook County pantries from GSFB, along with an upcoming $2,500 from POP.

Resource group meets today

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Local Working Groucp of the National Resources Conservation Service and the Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District will meet Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 4-6 p.m. at the USDA Service Center conference room, 735 Main Street, Presque Isle.
