Sports in brief (week of 9-14-2016)

Officiating class

Basketball officiating school, hosted by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board #150, will begin Sept. 27, 2016 at Presque Isle High School.

The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information on the class and the specific location, contact Harry Orser at 425-4451 or go online to iaabo150.org.

Press time — The Republican will go to press a few hours earlier than usual today to enable its employees to attend the memorial services in honor of a lamented dead President, Wm. DHHS awards funds to rural health centers

     AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Primary Care Association (mepca.org) announced Aug. 22, 2016 that it has been awarded $1.875 million over three years by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to further strengthen the state’s Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN), known as the Community Health Center Network of Maine (CHCNet).

I have a question for all of you: are you getting tired of watching as your often voiced opinions on the future of our wild places are continually dismissed by an administration that seems hell bent on destroying them?
