Parish invites all to St. Luce pilgrimage

     CARIBOU, Maine — In an effort to focus on and deepen their gratitude for the loving mercy of God, the Parish of the Precious Blood in Caribou invites all to join them on a pilgrimage to the holy door at St. Luce Church in Frenchville, on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.

5K to benefit cancer support

The fall season holds great importance in the cancer community. September is Childhood Cancer Month, and October is Breast Cancer Month in the United States. On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 CompetitorME will honor Aroostook County’s very own who are affected by cancer, have lost a loved one to cancer, or who are caregivers or professionals to those with cancer.

AS&L presents two local scholarships

Each recipient will receive an award of $1,000 per year, up to $4,000, throughout their college career. McCain Foods awards Top 10 Growers

Easton’s Flewelling Farms is champion      EASTON — The McCain Top 10 Potato Growers were recognized at the annual McCain Grower Barbecue at the Aroostook County Shriners’ Club in Presque Isle on Aug 25. Almost 300 guests gathered to celebrate the top growers and their achievements.

     Making arrangements — Fay Crockett of Caribou was here last Thursday, making arrangements for the rural delivery mail route No. 5 which he will drive after Oct. 1.

     Potato grinding— H.E. Jones’ starch factory commenced grinding potatoes Friday. Potatoes are selling for $1.30 per barrel today.
