Linda Trickey of the University of Maine will be speaking at the Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. She will be covering the basic care and health benefits of house plants.
U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced Jan. 5 that the Aroostook Band of Micmac Indians and the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, along with the Penobscot Indian Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe, received a total of $807,217 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG).
ASHLAND — The All-Aroostook Instrumental Music Festival will be held at the Ashland District School this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 and 14.
Collection boxes inside 19 Aroostook County churches, as well as St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Lincoln, are filling up with new and gently used shoes generously donated by parishioners and community members.

PRESQUE ISLE — New Ventures Maine will offer a money management class beginning Thursday, Jan. 12, meeting on Thursdays through Feb. 2 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
