Weaver promoted — Ralph O. Weaver, Jr., son of Mrs. Arline L. Weaver of Presque Isle, was promoted to first lieutenant at Camp Anza, Calif., where he was serving with the Transportation Corps.

Gold medal — Warren P. Wilson, well known insurance man of Mars Hill, who represented the Continental Insurance Company, a member company of the America Fire Insurance & Indemnity Group, was presented with the company’s gold medal in token of more than 25 years representation.

Former PI man promoted — Maurice J. Arsenault, deputy collector, was put in charge of a Major Zone office of the Internal Revenue Service which opened at 131 Elm Street in Biddeford, Fe. 15, for the convenience of the taxpayers residing in Biddeford, Saco and the rest of York County.

Cast member in college production — Nancy Kent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Kent of Presque Isle, and a sophomore at Beaver College, was selected as a member of the cast of “Inside Information” by Alice MacMillan, which was produced at the college on Feb. 22.

New youth organization formed in Presque Isle — The local council of the Knights of Columbus, under the direction of E. A. Gagnon, Grand Knight and State Committeeman, sponsored the Father James A. Hayes Circle of the Columbian Squires.

Harold Bryant named to National Post — H. E. Bryant, General Manager of Maine Potato Growers, Inc., was nationally recognized as a leader in the potato industry when he was elected to membership on the Advisory Board of the National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association at the Annual Meeting of that Association in Chicago.

Elected the Village Councillor — Mr. E.L. Osborne, formerly one of our esteemed citizens, but for some years past a resident of Holden, Alberta, was evidently appreciated in his new home, having been elected one of the Village Councillors.
