Entertainment at the parsonage — Mrs. G. L. Pressey entertained the C. I. C. at the parsonage Saturday afternoon, Feb. 10. An oyster supper was enjoyed by the class. AFter supper, the following officers were elected: President, Nedra Pierce; Vice President, Goldie Rees; Secretary, Annie Dillen; Treasurer, Laura Garrison.

Special rates for Farmers’ Week — The Bangor & Aroostook Railroad granted an excursion rate of one and one-third regular fare for the round trip from all stations to Bangor or Old Town and return to those who attended Farmers’ Week lectures, demonstrations and meetings at the College of Agriculture, Orono.

Hon. A. R. Gould business trip — Hon. A. R. Gould arrived home from a business trip to Montreal, New York and Boston. His train was delayed about twelve hours by the big storm, the B. & A.. train which should have arrived Thursday night, being delayed until the next morning.

Introducing an act into the Legislature — Rep. Hallett of Ashland introduced an act into the Legislature to incorporate C. Fred Clayton, Wm. L. Waldron, Chas. A. Carter and Whitfield D. Hallett as the Ashland Water & Sewer Co., the purpose of the incorporation being to furnish water for domestic and manufacturing purposes, and proved for an adequate sewerage system.
100 Years Ago – January 18, 1923
Hard coal deliveries in Presque Isle — The first real break in hard coal deliveries in Presque Isle had occurred during the previous fortnight; the bins of many households had run bare, and they had to resort to various substitutes in the shape of wood and soft coal. It was understood that the Perry Company had received another supply of anthracite.
100 Years Ago – Jan. 11, 1923
Aroostook County in fine condition — The County of Aroostook in excellent financial condition. Except for a bond issue of $76,000 which was made the previous fall, the county does not owe a dollar. This bond issue was floated entirely to pay The County’s part of the expense of installing bridges in The County under the bridge law, which was expected to be repealed at the Legislature.

Gartley elected committee head — Over 125 local members of the Aroostook County Agricultural Conservation Association elected Myron Gartley chairman of the community committee at an election at the Community Recreation Center.

New pumper arrived — The long-awaited pumper for the Presque Isle Fire Department, which arrived accompanied by Fire Chief Herbert H. Treffry and Carl Porter, representative of the Mack company, combined fire-fighting efficiency with one feature which made answering calls in cold weather much more comfortable and less hazardous for the firemen
