The shifting landscape of computer software

By now if you rely on genealogical software and a computer to organize and store your genealogical records, you’ve probably heard that Ancestry is abandoning support for Family Tree Maker (FTM) software in 2017.

Resolutions should be true priorities

I didn’t make resolutions this year because I’ve learned the hard way that even my noblest resolution sets me up to fail. HOULTON, Maine — Town officials said Monday it is not shoppers taking up most of the parking spaces in downtown Market Square, it is employees and employers of the stores in the historic district.

This column is, of course, called “Weather Whys,” and this time, it’s the Weatherman who has a “why”!

Be skeptical: use alternate sources

“Trust but verify” is the motto of the experienced genealogist. All of us who have been researching for some time have had erroneous information come our way whether online, from a fellow researcher, a published genealogy or another method.
