Can you embrace the rogue in the family?

Rogues, rascals, scoundrels, and ladies of dubious virtue have a habit of popping up in family trees like wormy apples in an orchard. When you encounter a less-than-sterling relative you are far from alone. Even the noblest family yields one or two less than exemplary characters – just take a look at a royal family tree sometime.

Family Discoverer: Make time to talk to older relatives, friends and neighbors

Most genealogists know they should talk to their older relations to find out what they remember of the family history. I would add you should also talk to any surviving friends or neighbors as well. Sadly, each year we lose more of our senior family members and their friends and with them memories and knowledge of the family story.

Moving more Mainers back to work

Maine is home to the best loggers and truckers in the Country. Unfortunately, the logging and trucking workforce is declining due to obsolete regulations that are prohibiting our young Mainers from choosing this career path.

End of summer

As August draws to a close, we must all bid farewell to another summer. Many barbecues were had, bikinis worn, ATV trails cruised down, and sunny days relished. The warm, bright days of summer are ticking away, leading us into the shorter, darker, cooler days of autumn.
