Cows and dew, what’s it to you?

Well, we’re getting to the time of year where we’ll soon be on the lookout for winter storms. Conveniently, there are two nifty signs, provided by M. Nature, that tell you whether hazardous winter weather may be approaching. Now both of these clues pertain to multi-hour periods of precipitation, that are typically preceded by those high, thin, wispy clouds, called cirrus, but also known as Mare’s Tails, because they look like the flowing tail of a horse.

Sen. Collins stops home for campaign visit

CARIBOU, Maine — U.S. Sen. Susan Collins made a stop in Caribou on Oct. 3, as the homegrown politician continued along her campaign trail. Her vibrant and patriotic red, white and blue campaign bus pulled into the S.W. Collins parking lot around 11:30 Friday morning to visit with her constituents — many of whom were close friends and family — at the location where the Collins family has run their business for five generations.

While each participant walks for his or her own personal reason, everyone walks for one common goal: to fight this devastating disease.

(Remember back in school when they told us “you’d better learn the Metric System because it is definitely coming”?)

Family Searcher: Snippets of paper are substance of life

Farmers’ Market: Crown Jewels II

Our customers join us at the Presque Isle Farmers Market, found in the Aroostook Centre Mall parking lot on Saturday mornings. Many have been coming regularly all season long. They bring large, reusable shopping bags for us to fill and smiling, eager faces for us to reinforce with a cheerful greeting. We appreciate their enthusiasm and their loyalty, but we recognize that if we, the venders, fail to provide what they desire, they will drift away.
