Family associations can be great sources of material for genealogists. They range from informal reunions, where the descendants of a particular couple meet for a picnic once a year, to full-fledged organizations with dues and membership cards and newsletters.
It occurs to me that I haven’t contributed a column to the newspaper in a while. That doesn’t mean I haven’t written things. I have, but thought better of it; mostly items criticizing the latest Trumpian gaffe. The echo chamber can be deafening at times.
According to the May 9, 2019, Washington Post, the continental US has just experienced the wettest 12-month period in recorded history — and this summer seems to be a continuance of that trend.
The fair was early this year. This was mostly an issue of rides for the kids and other events that the ride company needed to address. Still, it now puts almost two months in between the end of the fair and the start of school.
Here in The County, we have big, bold, beautiful skies, along with wonderful, wide-open views to distant hills and mountains, and, lucky for us, in thunderstorm season, our “big sky” makes it easier to spot important weather clues.
