Referee/official shortages could impact games

To the editor,
The shortages of quality coaches and officials/referees/umpires are both a result of many aspects of the game, including sportsmanship and opportunity. The headlines currently address sportsmanship among the coaches and fans toward the officials to be most of the reasons for the shortages.

Is the storm over? Maybe not

Winter. Nine feet of snow. And that’s just our average. In the record snow season of 2007-2008, 16-1/2 feet buried Caribou. And even in the lightest season on record (records at Caribou go back to 1939), two winters after the snow barrage, Caribou still had nearly six feet of snow.

As the weather turns colder by the day, and the autumn leaves start to fall from the trees, pumpkins are out on front porches, ghosts hang in trees, and it just reminds me of all the great Halloweens I have had in my life.

Opting for change in Caribou

To the editor:
The city manager during the 2019 mill rate setting meeting stated that, next year, Caribou’s mill rate would be increasing 3 mills, which would set the 2020 mill rate at 27.55 mills if the city manager’s words hold true.  Change is needed in Caribou.
