Cold weather common sense

How very fortunate we have been this winter. To experience mild temperatures and calm days is certainly a rarity, especially in December and January.  Unfortunately the weather this week is taking a bitter cold turn with well below zero nights and even single numbers for the days.  And then there is the wind chill factor to consider.

PAWS Pet of the Week – Spooky

This handsome tuxedo boy is Spooky. About 6 months ago he did not trust humans. PAWS has worked hard to gain his trust and he has come a long way. Being in a calm, quiet home, preferably with other cats would suit him best. Once he feels safe and secure his sweet personality will shine. […]

Feathered friends are a treat

Winter is the perfect time to feed the wild birds and the squirrels.  My husband has done this for years. He puts up four or five feeders along with suet bars and hangs these in front of the windows. It is great entertainment for us to watch and our pup loves to watch as well.

Make way for the zoomies

Nearly anyone who has ever had puppies or dogs can relate to “The Zoomies.”
The zoomies are defined as those sudden bursts of pent-up energy that cause dogs to run at breakneck speeds back and forth or around and around, or sometimes in a tight little circle.

’Tis the season

Twinkling lights, sparkly tinsel, brightly colored garland, and delicate ornaments — what’s not to love about holiday decorations?  My previous kitty, “Willie,” was so interested anytime the bow box came out of the closet.  Once the tree was up he couldn’t get enough of poking his nose in boxes, pulling out tissue paper — and he LOVED ribbon.

Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of December 14, 2022

Late yesterday there was a knock on the door. It was a young lady looking for help for a cat she and her friend had been given and asked to dispose of.
The cat was in desperate need of medical attention. She had already been declined for assistance at the first place she went. I said yes, of course, and I told her I would get her a carrier.
