Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of September 21, 2020

Lately a lot of kitties have gone missing. It seems like we get messages or phone calls daily.   There are so many predators out there and they are coming closer and closer to town. At the sanctuary alone we have seen bobcats, lynx and yes even bear.

Have you ever seen a cat with a big sagging belly?  My cat Zoey, whom I had for 18 years, at one time weighed in at 19 pounds and her belly hung and swayed back and forth when she walked.  I always called her “fatty cat.”

Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of September 7, 2020

As many of you are aware The Ark has been without a veterinarian since the pandemic hit. Due to COVID-19, the US-Canada border has been closed so we have not been able to go to our regular veterinarian.

A dog’s eye view of social media

I have a lot of friends that love dogs as much as I do. We always “dog talk” daily and laugh at the funny antics our dogs will do and the things we think our dogs would say if they could talk.

Zoey

Eighteen years  ago I was looking for a kitty. I walked into the Central Aroostook Humane Society, and adopted a 3-month-old kitten and named her Zoey.

Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of August 10, 2020

As the summer slowly comes to an end, we are hopeful that the next few months will slow down with the intake of kittens. Just when we thought we had seen it all, a little over a month ago  someone was going around town dropping off little black kittens.

Hot paws

We wait seven long months for the cold, dark and dreary days of winter to move on and the hints of spring and summer to finally arrive. We have had close to forty 80- to 90-degree days so far this summer.
