I admit it: I am one of the very few left in America who have not watched the “Twilight” sagas or the mega-hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.” The enthusiastic following of these shows is unbelievable, and what has happened is that fans are clamoring to incorporate as many elements of the show into their lives as possible.
I’d like to take a minute to talk to you about two legged critters for a change. We all know I love and adore the four legged members of our family, but it takes the human heart to swell with kindness and compassion when they see an animal struggling or suffering, and those are the hearts I am surrounded by.

Maxwell is a 10-week old kitten who was living in a Halfway Home Pet Rescue foster home with his siblings.
A few weeks ago we started trapping stray cats at the sanctuary, in hopes of getting them in out of the cold.
Every year thousands of unwanted pets are returned, given away, or abandoned to their fates. Some of these pets were gifts for birthdays, Christmas, or other occasions.
I had to get my calculator out because I didn’t believe my fingers after counting several times. Yes, it’s been 32 years that I’ve been talking to you about animal welfare and rescue, and for the one or two of you still reading, thank you so much!
