HOULTON Maine — The Houlton Police Department responded to the following incidents from Oct. 16-22.

 

Sunday, Oct. 16

5:30 a.m. — Off. Boutilier responded to Industrial Drive to investigate a burglar alarm.

11:49 a.m. — Off. York responded to North Street to investigate a complaint.

Tuesday, October 18

– Tr. Saucier responded to a personal injury rollover crash on the Campbell Road in New Limerick. The subsequent investigation showed the driver was traveling north when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Oakfield man’s death a homicide

Police probe discovery of body

SHERMAN, Maine — State police are investigating the death of Douglas Morin, 31, of Oakfield as a homicide. His body was found in a vehicle on PD Road, which is located off Cold Brook Road, on Sunday.

The cause of death is not being released, but the medical examiner’s office determined the death to be a homicide, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Monday afternoon in a news release.

Morin’s body was found at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Detectives have been working on the case since the body was discovered, McCausland said.

Trial in Oakfield double homicide scheduled Dec. 2 in Machias court

OAKFIELD, Maine — The trial of a Houlton man accused of killing an Oakfield couple has been rescheduled to start with jury selection on Dec. 2.

The trial will be held in Washington County Superior Court in Machias, a court clerk confirmed Tuesday.

Matthew Davis, 35, is accused of killing Michael Kitchen, 51, and Heidi Pratt, 49, on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.The trial originally was to be heard in Houlton Superior Court last month, but a jury could not seated.

Littleton man arrested following high-speed police chase

LITTLETON, Maine — A 27-year-old Littleton man was arrested Wednesday evening after leading police on a high-speed chase through the town.

Chester Scott was charged with violating a protection order, eluding a police officer, failing to stop for a police officer, criminal speeding, driving to endanger, and operating after suspension after leading Maine State Police on a chase.
