HOULTON, Maine — A homemade knife, resembling something that prison officials would refer to as a “shank” was discovered at Riverfront Park Friday, July 22, 2016.
According to Houlton Police Chief Joe McKenna, a roughly six-inch piece of sharpened metal, with string wrapped around the base to form a handle, was discovered in the park by a resident and reported to police shortly after 10:40 a.m.
A month after a spate of vandalism came to a head at Presque Isle’s Mantle Lake Park, the police are trying to track down individuals who wrote obscenities on a number of vehicles last week, including the Presque Isle Historical Society’s Molly the Trolley.

9:12 a.m. — Off. Boutilier responded to North Street to investigate a complaint.
11:08 a.m. — Off. Quint responded to Aurora Cir to investigate a disturbance.

12:39 p.m. — Off. Bickford responded to High Street for a welfare check.
BANGOR, Maine — United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Brian Hitchcock, 29, of Caribou, pleaded guilty Monday, July 18, 2016 in U.S. District Court to making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.
