Police find homemade knife in Park

HOULTON, Maine — A homemade knife, resembling something that prison officials would refer to as a “shank” was discovered at Riverfront Park Friday, July 22, 2016.

According to Houlton Police Chief Joe McKenna, a roughly six-inch piece of sharpened metal, with string wrapped around the base to form a handle, was discovered in the park by a resident and reported to police shortly after 10:40 a.m.

Vandals strike vehicles

Historic trolley is targeted

A month after a spate of vandalism came to a head at Presque Isle’s Mantle Lake Park, the police are trying to track down individuals who wrote obscenities on a number of vehicles last week, including the Presque Isle Historical Society’s Molly the Trolley.

BANGOR, Maine United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Brian Hitchcock, 29, of Caribou, pleaded guilty Monday, July 18, 2016  in U.S. District Court to making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.
