Westfield teacher retirement honored — Approximately 100 friends and former pupils of Mrs. Alda E. Day met at the Westfield School to honor her for her 38 years in the teaching profession, 30 of which were in the Westfield schools, and to wish her happiness in her retirement years.

Final 2023 clinics

December 8, 9 and 10 will be the last chances for feline spay/neuter clinics for 2023. The clinics will be hosted by Halfway Home Pet Rescue and will take place in Caribou at the old Broadway Electric Building, 40 Broadway Street, near Hogan Tire.

Twelve students graduate from Mechanized Logging Operations and Forest Trucking Program

Graduates of Maine’s only college training program for operators of mechanized logging and forest trucking equipment were recognized Nov. 9 at the site where they have spent recent weeks completing the final, trucking stage of the program after months harvesting timber using sophisticated state-of-the-art machines like those they will encounter in the logging industry.

Free speech, not hate speech

To the editor:
Since Oct. 7 where over 1,400 jews were massacred at a music festival by Palestinian Hamas terrorists, some in horrific fashion such as babies being burned alive in front of their mothers or had their heads cut off, I’ve been amazed at the number of protests across our county in support of the Hamas terrorists.

Finally Home

I bought him on the spot. I settled on the name “Finally Home,” as at my age I felt he would likely be my last horse, and together we were both finally home. His barn name was Finn. I promised him I would keep him until either one of us died.
