Residents pitch in to aid others – The generosity in Van Buren on Saturday, March 20, 1999, was overwhelming. Cadette Girl Scout Troop 673 had a toiletry drive to benefit the Battered Women’s Shelter, but the community opened their coffers and food, money and even bottles were given.
The Fort Kent Knights of Columbus have announced the winner of their ongoing lotto fundraiser for the previous week.

I write today as one of the over 500 businesses, organizations and towns that support the Maine Trails Bond. The $30 million investment from the bond would help with the maintenance, design and development of motorized and non-motorized trails.
The meeting of the Allagash Advisory Council began for me in delight. I was reunited with a room full of wardens, fisheries biologists, recreation specialists, lodge owners, naturalists, guides, most of us sporting some grey in our hair. These were my colleagues for over four decades.
This darling little 1-year-old will melt your heart in seconds. Tabitha was surrendered due to too many other cats in the home, so is very used to other felines.
Several noteworthy athletes are slated to compete in the competition and recent snow has improved the course.
Much of the Valley looks to receive 4-6 inches of snow while areas from Van Buren south look to be in an area of 8- to 12-inch snowfall potential.
