PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The members of the Aroostook Shrine Club have been working hard since last summer planning for the 2007 Anah Shrine Circus. Over 100 volunteers have been organizing, ordering supplies and getting ready for the Anah Temple Shrine’s biggest event of the year.
The department heads met in Presque Isle on April 18 to go over last-minute details preparing for the arrival of the 2007 circus.
The 44th Anah Shrine Circus will be in Presque Isle at the Forum on May 3, 4 and 5. It is produced by Wayne McCary, one of the most respected names in international circus entertainment. McCary is the person who also produces the shows at the New England Big E held in Springfield, Mass. each fall.
Acts for this year’s Shrine Circus come from all around the world and many of the acts are first time ever to Maine. From Russia, and their first time to the Shrine Circus, the Sensational Panfilovas with their unbelievable magic and transformations will be coming to Presque Isle. Irina Markova, also from Russia, will be presenting her comedy of ‘lions and Panthers.’ Don Otto, three-time world champion trampolinist, will be performing a high-diving act that is a must-see!
The Flying Red Paths on the flying trapeze are back by popular demand. And, of course, no circus would be complete without elephants. Morris Elephants with both Asian and African elephants will perform at the circus.
The Anah Shrine Circus will be appearing in Presque Isle on May 3, 4 and 5 at the Forum. Tickets will be available at the Forum, Clukey’s Auto Supply, all Aroostook Burger King restaurants, York’s bookstore in Houlton and Aroostook Subway restaurants.
This year’s circus will feature a Senior Citizen Night on Thursday May 3 with all senior citizen tickets half price. This senior event is being sponsored by The Aroostook Medical Center.
The half-price tickets will be available at the door the night of the show.
Show times will be Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m.; Friday, May 4, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
