BAILEY, Avis, of Brewer, died August 7, 2007.
BREWER – Avis (Lamoreau) Bailey, passed to a better place, Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Avis, known to her family as “Nana” was born Oc. 19, 1928, in Presque Isle, to Riley and Amanda Lamoreau.
She attended schools in Presque Isle and after her marriage to Kendall Bailey, spent her early-married life in the county. In 1972, she relocated to Brewer, where she helped Kendall establish the Bangor office of the family business, Parker K. Bailey & Sons. Nana had many interests, especially enjoying traveling, which she did extensively and “cutting a rug” which she took every opportunity to do. Avis enjoyed many years of working, most notably at Wilkins Clothing store, Presque Isle, and Porteous, Bangor. She also held a long-term teacher’s aide position at Brewer High School, and was especcially proud of her years spent there.
Avis was predeceased by her firstborn son, Kurt, in 1986; her former husband, Kendall, in 1994; her brother, Arthur; and her parents. Avis is lovingly survived by Kurt’s children, Helene, Mary, Elizabeth, Kathan and Jacqueline and their brother, Nolan; her sons, Craig and his wife, Robin and their children, Charity, Ross and Shane, Kent and his wife, Lisa and their children, Shanna, Matthew, Madelyn and Michael, Mark and his companion, Catherine Walsh and his children, Blake, Blair and Bradlee; great-grandsons, Kayen, Gavin, Aiden and Cody; her siblings, Freda, Margy, Edna and Vaughn and their families; her longtime companion, Paul Kilcollins; and many lifelong friends, especially Joyce Veysey, Doe Hutchins and Carolyn Sabatus; daughters-in-law, Barbara Maher, Cathy Frost and Kelly Graham. Rest in peace, Nana.
Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at East Orrington Congregational Church. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, North Main St., Brewer. In lieu of flowers, please make donatons to Maine Parkinson’s Association, 100 Campus Drive, Unit 106, Scarborough, ME 04074.
