Full name: Phil Bernaiche
Other political offices held: I have served on the town council, on the board of budget review, zoning board of appeals, roads committee and the parks and recreation. I also served on different organizations like the Knights of Columbus as a member and the Aroostook Quality Council and was appointed by the Commissioner of Mental Health. I am the president of the Southern Aroostook Chapter Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
Image What made you run for office? I am running for the office to serve the people and make Houlton a better place to live. The issues that are important to me are, economic and community development because both add growth to the community and jobs that will bring good salaries to the population and have a future for our young people and others, and where the people have the right to know what both hands  of government are doing. Another issue that is important and a must is to support the elderly that have given so much to the town of Houlton over the years. I have attended town council meetings for the last 29 years and only missed 13 regular meetings. I am a man you can trust. I am the people’s candidate. If elected on Nov. 6, I will do my best to serve you all.
What are your primary goals? The issues that are also important are “honest, government reduce spending,” which means lower taxes and taking steps in a different direction to lower cost by hiring professional personnel. This could be proven and effective cost saving at these critical times.
