PIHS athlete of the week
The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate varsity soccer team statisticians Mike Picard, Steve Goulet, Katelynn Hartt and Brittany Perry for being selected as athletes of the week. Team statisticians play an important, quiet role in the success of any team. The hard work and education Mike, Steve, Katelynn and Brittany demonstrated this fall was appreciated by their teammates and coaches.
Girl’s youth hockey league
The girl’s youth hockey league began in October and continues to invite new participants. The program is for ages 10 to 17, and will run to March. The team meets at the Forum in Presque Isle on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. For more information contact Dennis Albert at 764-3862.
Spud Speedway potluck
On Sunday, Nov. 11 there will be a Driver’s meeting/potluck dinner at 110 Presque Isle St., Fort Fairfield. Organizers plan to discuss the rules and ideas for next year’s season. Please RSVP by Thursday, Nov. 8. Call Karin Petrin at 227-9013.
13th annual senior bowl
On Sunday, Nov. 11 the Maine Soccer Coaches will hold the Senior Bowl at Hampden Academy. 150 seniors selected as regional all-stars have been invited to play in the game.
TAMC/TD Banknorth Eastern Series Races
Volunteers are needed to help at the TAMC/TD Banknorth cross country ski event to be held at the Nordic Heritage Center on Dec. 15 and 16. For more information, call 551-1705 or email heidibartleynhsc@maine.rr.com.
Nordic Walking Club
The Nordic walking club will meet every Tuesday at noon at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle until Dec. 18. Membership is $100 and includes a pair of walking poles and a Craft brand Pro-warm base layer. Contact Melanie Stewart at 760-9500.
Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department programs
All events meet at the Community Center: pee wee basketball begins today at 6 p.m. for grades one to three, youth basketball begins Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. for grades four to six, adult basketball meets Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m. for ages 18 and up, co-ed volleyball meets Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m. for ages 16 and up.
Open gym times: Fridays 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturdays 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m.
Used ski and outdoor equipment sale
The Northern Skiers Club will hold a used ski and outdoor equipment sale on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Outdoor enthusiasts are welcome to buy or sell their goods. Warren Miller’s “Playground”
The Northern Skiers Club will show “Playground,” a film about winter sports at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. For more information contact Mark Shea at mark@mainewsc.org.
Turkey Trot 5K
The annual Turkey Trot 5k will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24 starting at Caribou High School. Registration begins at 9 a.m., the race following at 10 a.m. The first 50 runners get shirts. For more information, contact Dan Harrigan at 498-3226.
Presque Isle High School season passes
PIHS athletics department announces that season passes for varsity basketball and ice hockey may be purchased at the athletic office.
For anyone that reserved seat last year, these seats will be honored until December 22. After that date, reserved seating will be on a first come, first served basis.
Prices follow: basketball only $30, ice hockey only $25 and combination $50.
Season pass holders will be admitted to all regular season home games only.
