UMPI softball falls in doubleheader

    ASHLAND, Va. – The University of Maine at Presque Isle softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Randolph-Macon College by the scores of 8-0 and 13-1.      With the losses, the Owls fall to 1-4 on the season.
    In the first game, UMPI got behind by six runs early in the first inning, and struggled from the plate.  Junior Erica Davis (Cumberland) and teammate Billie Martin (Caribou) both went 1-2 from the plate, earning a base hit single each.  Sophomore pitcher Nicole Russel (Newcastle) gave up 12 hits in the loss.  She walked two and struck out one.  
    In the second game, Davis went 2-2 from the plate, including a solo homerun, giving UMPI its lone run of the game.  She also singled for the Owls.  
    On the mound, Davis gave up 13 runs on 15 hits, as she walked two batters and struck out none.  
    The Owls continued play on Monday, March 31 in Buena Vista, VA to take on Southern Virginia College in a doubleheader. No scores were reported at presstime.
