PRESQUE ISLE – The Olympic flame arrived at the Presque Isle track and field complex on May 16 to spark the 2008 Spring Special Olympics.
Two-hundred and forty-five athletes from across Aroostook County gathered at the Gerhig T. Johnson Athletic Complex to compete in events including the 50-meter walk, 50-meter run, 100-meter walk, 100-meter run, 200-meter run, wheelchair races, softball throw and standing long jump.
Over 200 volunteers from area National Honor Societies helped to make the ’08 event a success.
