LIMESTONE – Limestone/MSSM softball battled behind home plate and in the field in Saturday’s semifinal against Bangor Christian. However, Patriot pitcher Jillian French proved too fast for the Eagles to take the win, 14-2.

French kept Limestone off the bases for the first two innings, until Chelsea Leighton got a taste of the ball and made it to first base. In the top of the fourth, the Eagles stopped the Patriots in their tracks with a double play and easy out at first base. Jasmine Cote scored the first run of the game for Limestone in the bottom of the fourth.
Kellie Peers singled twice and scored the second run for the Eagles, and Victoria St. Pierre pelted an RBI double.
Eagle softball continued on the path to the Eastern Maine finals bowling over Jonesport-Beals in last Thursday’s quarterfinal, 6-1.
Cote allowed only three hits and struck out seven for Limestone. Melanie Allen and Kalli Cote both singled twice and hit an RBI for the winners.
Katahdin baseball pulled their number-two ranking over Limestone/MSSM in last Thursday’s Class D quarterfinal, 20-2. The Cougars built up their lead with a 13-run fourth quarter, leaving the Eagles behind despite scoring in the final two innings.
Senior Matt Enman belted an RBI single in his final high school game. Danny Cote also singled.
Limestone baseball moved on to Class D quarterfinals after downing Machias 5-2 in their preliminary on June 10.
Enman had a hot hand pitching 11 stirkeouts while allowing only four hits in the victory. Tom Albert singled twice and helped in one run while Ty Tracy hit an RBI double.
Coyotes finish Vikings
Old Town ended Caribou’s in the Class B quarterfinals last Thursday, 5-2.
Pat Thibodeau hit a double and single for the Vikings while Eric Brown notched an RBI single. Seth Sager added two singles. Thibodeau struck out six Coyote batters.
Caribou baseball cruised through their preliminary game with number-13 Foxcroft Academy on June 10. The Vikings scored nine in the third inning, and ended the game in only five innings with a 12-1 score.
Matt Kinney propelled CHS with a homerun in the first, and hit a single in the third inning. Philip St. Peter singled twice and hit two RBIs. Jarryd Rossignol hit two singles.
