    Simi Vallry, California and  Houlton – Phyllis (Grendell) Bruns, 77, passed away July 27, 2008, at a Simi Valley Hospital after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1931, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Samuel and Esther (Porter) Grendell.
    She graduated from Houlton High School in 1949. In 1956 she moved to Colorado to marry Marvin Bruns where they spent many years before retiring and moving to California to be near their daughter and family.
    She is survived by her husband, Marvin Bruns; her daughter, Sharon Diaz and her husband Clint; two grandsons and two great-grandsons all of California; a brother, Dana Grendell of Alaska; and a sister, Ruth Holmes of Houlton. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Janice Toothaker; two brothers, Richard Grendell and Wayne Grendell.
    A memorial service was held August 9, 2008, at the Faith Lutheran Church in California. Arrangements by Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home.
