Gardiner: home away from home

HOULTON – A caring and capable staff, along with family and community involvement is what makes Gardiner Health Care Facility more like a second home to its residents.
The 50 full-time and 25 part-time employees spend their time ensuring their residents have the proper care they need.
“Many of our employees have been with us for 20 years or more,” said Mark Anderson, owner of the facility. “They respect the residents and have a special relationship with them.”
The secret to business success for Gardiner Health Care Facility begins with a caring and dedicated staff providing quality care to each resident.
“Our staff puts into practice the Aroostook County philosophy — the customer’s needs come first,” Anderson said.
Customer service comes in the form of caring for all residents’ personal needs, whether helping them with the activities of daily living or being there to listen when they need someone to talk to.
“Customer service is our first priority,” Anderson explained. “Our staff demonstrates this by providing excellent care due to their years of experience.
“They listen to the residents and respond to their concerns,” he added.
Not only do staff members comfort in time of need, but they celebrate with residents, as well.
“There are also many joyous occasions that are shared by residents and staff which provide a healthy living environment,” Anderson said.
Community members and family participation also play important roles in what Gardiner Health Care Facility achieves each day.
“People from our community churches, schools and various organizations come, visit and entertain our residents,” Anderson said. “Each week, these groups give their time and talent to enrich our residents’ lives. We would like to thank you all so very much.
“We encourage individuals to just walk in and visit with our residents,” he added, “this will enrich your life, too.”
