The inside scoop

To the editor:
Connecticut Senator Dodd was the leading negotiator for the Democrats in the recent financial crisis. On Monday morning, he was interviewed on MSNBC’s news program. Senator Dodd said the 4 p.m. meeting at the White House on Thursday was “all theater”. He said they ended up at the same point in negotiations on Sunday that they were at on Thursday. The arrival of the presidential candidates stalled the process and was solely to help boost a floundering campaign.
We also know that the meeting was scheduled after Senator McCain called his friend, President Bush, Wednesday morning.
