Presque Isle’s Alecia Palmer ran to an impressive 12th-place finish at Saturday’s Class B state cross country championships, held at Belfast.
Palmer’s time on the 3.1-mile course was 20 minutes, 6.87 seconds. She was 1:18 behind race winner Abby Mace of Maranacook and was fourth fastest Eastern Maine runner in the meet.
Hallie Bartlett of the Lady Wildcats was 40th in 21:23.44 and teammate Krista Buck was 54th in 21:52.92. Emily Wright was 60th (22:14.51) and Elizabeth Wright 73rd (22:45.76) to round out PI’s scoring at 209, which put them 10th out of 12 teams.
Jerica Fox and Julia Brown were Presque Isle’s other runners.
In the boys’ race, Jason Johnson placed 79th overall in 19:06.22 as Presque Isle’s only meet participant.
Taking the team championships were the Greely boys and the Cape Elizabeth girls.
