The Presque Isle High School varsity swim team placed eighth at the 2008 Penobscot Valley Conference Relay Carnival at University of Maine at Orono on Dec. 5. The Caribou girls’ swim team placed eleventh and boys’ tenth. Winners were Bangor’s girls’ and Mount Desert Island’s boys’. The Presque Isle girls placed eighth in the 200 yard medley with Allison Young, Karrie Brawn, Emilee Currie and Rilee Currie. In the 250 yard shuttle relay, they placed eighth with Dara Raymond, Shae Alder, Rilee Currie and Allison Young (3:22.56). Emilee Currie, Erica Hemphill, Young and Brawn placed fourth in the 200 yard butterfly relay (2:19.13).
In the 200 yard freestyle the Wildcats placed fourth with Young, Hemphill, Adler, Emilee Currie and Alecia Palmer (2:08.45). Ashley Burlock and Desiree Higgins placed fifteenth(2:46.55). In the 400 yard individual medley they placed eighth with Emilee and Rilee Currie, Brawn and Hemphill (5:46.01). In the 200 yard backstroke the following placed seventh: Adler, Higgins, Hemphill and Young (2:39.19). In the 200 yard breaststroke Palmer, Brawn, Higgins and Emilee Currie placed fourteenth (3:05.02). In the 400 yard freestyle Adler, Higgins, Raymond and Palmer placed ninth (5:15.11).
The boys’ 200 medley relay placed ninth with Matt Dunn, Cameron Winter, Stephen Goulet and Kyle Gilson (2:17.88). In the 250 yard shuttle Warren Zubrick, Locke Robbins, Ethan York and Gilson placed sixth (2:51.64). Drew Long, Lucas Richards, Dustin Graham and Dunn placed fourteenth (3:23.76). In the 200 yard freestyle Goulet, Dunn, Winter and Gilson placed sixth (1:58.92) and Josh Allen, Aaron Biggs, York and Graham placed sixteenth (2:39.15). In the 200 yard backstroke Winter, Robbins, Goulet and Dunn placed sixth and Jordan Francke, Allen, Biggs and Zubrick placed fifteenth (2:22.05). In boys’ 200 yard breaststroke relay, P.I. placed ninth with Allen, Winter, Robbins and Goulet (3:01.82). In the 400 yard freestyle Francke, Robbins, York and Gilson placed ninth (5:20.69) and thirteenth with Allen, Graham, Biggs and Zubrick (6:27.13).
The Wildcats’ next meet is Dec. 12 at Old Town.
