TUNING UP — Mike Clark on drums, and Gary Bossie on sax, practiced earlier this week and will join other Houlton High School Alumni at the Saturday game with Lee Academy at the high school. Game time is 7 p.m. Band director Joe Fagnant is looking for more alumni to participate. The music department invites all former band members, from any graduating class, to participate in this fabulous afternoon. “The Alumni Band will be performing on its own, so we need a strong turnout. We need alumni for this event to make it a success. Call your classmates!” said Joe Fagnant.
Both Fagnant and Dave McGillicuddy will direct the band.
The schedule is as follows:
HHS Alumni Band Day
Houlton Varsity Boys vs. Lee Academy
Saturday Jan. 10, 4:30 p.m.
4:30 p.m. — arrive at HHS to prepare music/instruments.
4:45 p.m. — rehearsal on stage in HHS auditorium.
5:45 p.m. — dinner provided by SAD 29 Music Boosters.
6:30 p.m. — prepare for pre-game, perform musical selections and National Anthem.
The group will also perform at halftime.
“We will pick familiar songs from past years and have music packets ready for you when you arrive,” Fagnant added.
Special recognition will also be given to alumni that qualify in the following categories: traveling the longest distance, earliest class year represented, most members from one class, most members from one family. Your participation also earns current band members prizes.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring alumni from different generations together to relive a great musical experience. We are looking forward to having them return to HHS,” he concluded.
If you wish to participate in this event, please e-mail jofagnant@msln.net or call Joe Fagnant, HHS Band director, 532-6551.
