The festival is sponsored by the Northern Maine Music Educators Association and will feature students from Aroostook County who were selected to be part of an honors ensemble, based on their abilities on voice or instrument. Featured in the concert will be four ensembles, including a middle school band directed by Pat Michaud of the Hampden school systems, a middle school chorus directed by George Redman, a teacher in Bangor schools, a high school chorus directed by Nora Kranis from North Yarmouth Academy and a high school band directed by Old Town music educator, Jeff Priest.
Students will meet for the first time in rehearsals on Friday at 9 a.m. and work with a guest conductor who will offer these students a challenging and rewarding musical experience. When all the rehearsals are done on Friday and Saturday morning, the concert will bring the festival to a close.
The general public can purchase tickets for this outstanding concert at the door. Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for children/senior citizens, and $10 for a family. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
