Bartman is a member of the Maine National Guard Combat Marksmanship Team. The team provides an opportunity for soldiers to refine their skills, represent the State of Maine at regional and national competitions, and earn superior marksmanship awards.
The Distinguished Rifleman Badge is awarded to a soldier in recognition of a preeminent degree of achievement in competition matches with the military service rifle.     Bartman and the Maine National Guard Team went on to compete at the national competition in Little Rock, Arkansas. Out of the 73 teams, Maine took third place. Bartman also received an award for placing 20 out of the 233 national competitors.
In 2008, Bartman was selected as the Maine National Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year and he is a distinguished member of the 11th Civil Support Team (WMD) based in Waterville.  Bartman is the son of Ralph and Cindy from Merrill.  He attended Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle and now lives in Canaan with his wife April.
