Nine semi-finalists vied for Aroostook Idol on March 1, at the Caribou Performing Arts Center, which were narrowed down to three finalists: Pam Cyr, Fort Kent; Dawson Graham, Weston and Nicole Ballard, Presque Isle. Before a huge crowd, Pam Cyr was selected Season 5 Aroostook Idol by audience vote after singing “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” followed by “Proud Mary”.
She said, “I enjoy singing. I don’t think I’m great and I didn’t join to win. It’s all about doing what I enjoy and enjoying what I’m doing.”
Others competing for the title of Aroostook Idol were: Caleb Richardson, Houlton; Indya Ouellette, Madawaska; Jordan Buckley, Westfield; Daniel Rooney, Presque Isle; and Erica Ouellette, Madawaska.
According to Executive Director Claudia Stevens, net proceeds from the four Aroostook Idol shows will be approximately $30,000 to support numerous agencies throughout Aroostook County that receive funding from the United Way of Aroostook on an annual basis.
