Calaman, Michael, 8, March 8, 2009. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
AMITY – Michael Calaman, 8 1/2, Michael earned his heavenly wings on March 8. He was born into the loving arms of his parents, Keely (Ritchie) Howell and Kristin Calaman September 30, 2000 in Houlton.
At the age of 4 months he was diagnosed with Krabbes Leukodystrophy and was given 6 months to a year at best. Michael fought this disease in every way he was ever so smart but was just trapped in that beautiful body with big brown eyes and dark hair like his dad and the spirit of his mom. Michael was never a complainer. His mom and daddy, Mark, even took him to Santa's Village and many other places. He loved the rides. He got to experience so many things and touched people near and far. Michael had a very special bond with his Grampa, they shared so many special moments together and he will always be Nana's "Pie". He was a true hero and fought this all his life. In this life, he taught us so very much about life and love and for that we all thank him.
He will be so dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The most important thing "Pie" gave us was his little sister, Michaela. He gave her life and that is how she got her name. They shared a very special bond. May our angel fly high. We love you so much and will be missing you, your pooh bear snore and sticky wet kisses.
He is survived by his mother, Keely and step-father, Mark Howell of Amity and father, Kristin and step-mother, Lisa Calaman of Houlton; sisters, Michaela and Janice Howell both of Amity and Mariah Boyd of Houlton; three brothers, Danny Howell of Amity, Asher Calaman and Logan Boyd both of Houlton; Nana Julie and Grampa Phil Ritchie of Smyrna; John and Cindy Calaman of Galeton, PA; special great-grandmother, Ruth Marquis of Augusta; great- grandfather, Norman Marquis of Presque Isle; a special aunt and uncle, Josh and Stacy Ritchie of New Limerick and cousin, Jacob; his special Mammy and Grampi Howell; and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins.
