What Kids Say

CASWELL — Legend has it that if you catch a Leprechaun, he has to take you to his pot of gold. The students at the Dawn F. Barnes Elementary School had some pretty interesting ideas about how to catch a leprechaun, and even more diverse ways of spending the gold. On March 4, when the students took a moment to share the ideas on catching leprechauns, they were in the midst of showing their school spirit during Messy Hair Day at the school, where students were encouraged to make their hair as messy as they could.

To catch a Leprechaun …
“If there was a rainbow out , I would put a bowl of Lucky Charms at the end of it. If there was a bush near by, I would hide in it with my net. When the Leprechaun came down to eat the Lucky Charms, I would come out of the bush and catch it. Then I would take it back home and call the police.

If he gave me his gold …
“I would put it in the bank for later on when I go to college. The bank would probably be surprised when I showed up to the window with a giant pot of gold.”
