CARIBOU — This past weekend may have had many wondering what happened to summer. According to Senior Forecaster at the National Weather Service Office in Caribou Joseph Hewitt, it was 43 degrees very early Saturday morning, with morning and late afternoon showers.

This is not the quintessential image of August, however, dark clouds and light showers fell upon this Caribou field during the chilly temperatures on Aug. 29.
National Weather Service Hydrologist Mark Turner stated that temperatures reached as low as 32 degrees in northwestern Aroostook County on late Sunday night.
While it may not have felt like August last week, forecasters are pegging temperatures for the first week of September to be higher than average, between 75 and 80 degrees, with Friday cooling down just slightly.
