November 13, 1965, Reno and Jeanette Corriveau opened a family restaurant, serving American and Italian food. This year Reno’s Pizza House, touted for its genuine friendly hometown atmosphere and delicious pizzas, is celebrating its 45th anniversary. The established business, in 1980, having seen growth and success, became incorporated with Reno and Jeanette and new partners, brothers Danny and Nelson Corriveau, doing business as Reno’s Family Restaurant.
The goal was to provide a casual dining experience, which would include serving their customers three meals a day and to make available a full line of carry-out foods. The Corriveau brothers remained committed to home-style cooking, a tradition since Reno’s early years.
Following 43 years’ of meeting, greeting, cooking for and serving to generations of Caribou residents and visitors, Reno and Jeanett retired. In 2009 owners/brothers Danny and Nelson were at the helm of the business concentrating on carrying on the tradition of good home-cooked meals prepared and served by their staff.
Both brothers were introduced to the family business at early ages, learning just exactly what restaurant life was all about.
In the early 1980s Reno’s began serving breakfast. “Our customers needed to have a place to have breakfast,” said Danny Corriveau. Anyone driving by Reno’s on any given morning will realize how popular a decision that became, as the parking area is usually full.
One can always count on seeing not only friends who gather at the restaurant on a regular basis, but also those who have “come home” to visit. It certainly isn’t out of the ordinary to hear someone home on vacation say, “I can’t wait to have a Reno’s pizza.”
Danny and Nelson Corriveau currently employ a staff of 21. The management staff includes owners Danny and Shellie Doody-Corriveau, Danny’s wife; Nelson’s wife Brenda and two more family members sisters, Susie Corriveau who recently celebrated 30 years’ of employment and Tammy Knolls, both who have catered to their customers for many years.
The staff at Reno’s Family Restaurant invites old friends and first-timers to help celebrate their milestone 45th anniversary by stopping by and enjoying a pizza or other menu items. They are committed to serving the residents of Aroostook County and look forward to expanding their menu selection in order to accommodate the changing market demands.
