The annual Amateur Athletic Union informational state meeting for basketball will take place Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. in Room 35 at Bangor Christian School on 1476 Broadway Ave. in Bangor.
Anyone interested in forming a boys or girls teams and participating in AAU tournaments is invited to attend.

The Presque Isle Youth Hockey pee wees defeated Lancaster in Hartland, New Brunswick, 3-1, in a game played Jan. 15. Alex Michaud scored one goal and Colin McKay scored the other two and also earned MVP for Presque Isle.
On Saturday, Jan. 16, Presque Isle fell to Carleton in Florenceville, 3-1. McKay scored the only goal for and goalie Jillian Flynn was named team MVP.
That same day against Grand Falls, Presque Isle dropped a 7-2 decision. McKay’s slap shot and Alex Michaud’s back hand were the lone goals for the locals. Joseph Patenaude played a strong game and earned MVP honors for Presque Isle.
The Presque Isle Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza congratulate Jordyn Kinney and Oliver Zubrick for being selected as athletes of the week for Jan. 19-23.
Kinney received an individual award for all-star jumps at the County Cheerleading Competition held at Caribou High School and despite an ankle injury helped the varsity cheering squad to a berth in the state competition.
Zubrick scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to help the boys varsity basketball team to victories over Houlton and Bucksport.
For Jan. 11-18, Dillon Kingsbury and Chelsea Nickerson were the recipients. Kingsbury had 24 points and 10 assists in victories over Hermon and Mattanawcook, while Nickerson’s 12 steals spearheaded a victory over Houlton.
The Presque Isle High School Varsity Club is pleased to bring back to Presque Isle the Boston-based rock and blues band Ernie and the Automatics. The Automatics will be live in concert on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the PIHS Auditorium.
Members of Ernie and the Automatics have sold over 30 million albums worldwide. The band features guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Sib Hashian, both former original members of the multi-platinum selling band Boston.
