WASHINGTON, DC – Maine students must submit work by this Friday, March 19, to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition.
Winners will have the opportunity display their work in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year. They will also be eligible for a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Work must be submitted in digital format since actual artwork will not be accepted for review. Students must be in grades 9-12.
Other requirements for the competition in various categories is available by calling the Maine Arts Commission at 287-2790 or by sending an email to Willa Kammerer at mepoetryoutloud@2gmail.com.
Congressman Mike Michaud joined the Maine Arts Commission to encourage Maine students to participate in this year’s competition. “This art competition is a great way for Maine student artists to display their creativity,” said Michaud. “Members of Congress and visitors from around the world will see the winning work as they go to and from the U.S. Capitol Building.”
