David Salkind has announced the launch of his Aroostook County Sheriff candidacy as a Republican candidate with his online campaign headquarters at www.DaveForSheriff.net. The website is a resource for county voters to become actively involved in the campaign and includes Salkind’s police career achievements, biography and is a resource for supporters to elect Salkind as Aroostook County Sheriff. “Aroostook County is not immune to gangs, drug use and drug trafficking,” said Salkind. “My law enforcement experience in recognizing gang behavior, handling controlled dangerous substance possession and trafficking and the crimes associated with such behavior, has motivated me to run for sheriff. I want to make Aroostook County a safer place to live, work and raise our families by keeping drunk and drugged drivers off our highways, stop the flow of illegal drugs from entering the county and keep gangs off our streets.”
Salkind, a veteran, pursued a career in criminal justice after serving in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees for four years of active military. His background includes working for the United States Department of Defense, Police K9 handler and a police officer for 15 years. Salkind is an advocate for the Second Amendment and has been a member of the NRA for more than 30 years.
Salkind will be traveling throughout Aroostook County in the coming months to meet voters and listen to law enforcement concerns.
