Man arrested twice in one week for OUI

FORT FAIRFIELD — Cases of OUI typically increase as temperatures rise.
That’s been the case in Fort Fairfield, where police have made at least five arrests in the past week.
“This past week has been a busy week for us. We’ve had a total of five OUI arrests, one minor in possession of liquor and numerous traffic violations,” said Sgt. Shawn Newell, Fort Fairfield Police Department.
Most notable was a case involving the same individual being arrested for OUI twice over a period of two days.
“Robert Sherwood, 63, of Fort Fairfield, was arrested June 4 for OUI. He was subsequently arrested June 5 for OUI, as well as operating with a suspended license and violation of bail conditions on the second offense,” said Newell.
Sherwood was transported the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
Newell reminds drivers it’s easier and safer to plan for a designated driver than to risk injury to yourself or someone else.
“If you’re going to drink, plan accordingly. The life you save may be your own,” said Newell.
