The Caribou/Presque Isle League Playoffs for men’s slow pitch softball wrapped up Sunday, Aug. 1 with Maine Merchants, a team made up of players from both the Houlton and Fort Kent areas, winning the title over Griffeth Ford of Caribou.
Maine Merchants did not have it easy as they lost to Griffeth Ford in the winner’s bracket and had to play multiple games coming out of the loser’s bracket. In the end, it was Merchants beating Ford in the championship game 23-19 to force a consolation game, which they also went on to win, 25-14.
Griffeth Ford had placed first during the regular season.
