Wade resident Mid Bennett is working with the Hospice of Aroostook program of making “memory quilts” for those patients under 18 who are losing a loved one and are clients or patients with Hospice of Aroostook. The nationally recognized Make a Difference Day is set aside for individuals or groups to do something to make it better for others. It is always the fourth Saturday in October, and those from Washburn, Wade, Perham along with Castle Hill and other nearby areas will be gathering on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washburn Civic Center to combine their abilities in order to make a few quilts for those in need.
Volunteers are needed and include quilters, cutters, ironing and pressing of fabrics, laying out the squares and quilt tacking. The volunteers can set their own hours ranging from one to all day. Also needed are donations of materials and any other sewing notions.
For further information, contact Mildred Bennett at 455-4054 or e-mail her at mbennett@mfx.net.
