PRACTICING — East Grand Outdoor Education students recently practiced T-Rescue maneuvers on East Grand Lake, in the canoe, from left are Billy Holmes and Kevin Haggerty, while in the water are James Berry and Chet Knights.
The afternoon started with seven children running in the Kids’ Fun Run where Colby Hicks was the first across the finish line. The five-mile run and three-mile walk followed with Joe and Angela Ewings of Littleton crossing the finish line in 35:04 and 37:14. In the walkers’ category, Galen and Lisa Elliot of Ellsworth finished in 51:36.
The final event of the day was the Survival of the Fittest Challenge. The two-mile course included a hay bale scramble, Army crawl, archery, horse trail run and several other obstacles throughout the course. Joe Ewings finished first in 15:26, followed by Tim Jehnings of Guilford in 15:30.
Organizers extend a thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors that made the day’s events possible. Volunteers who endured the rainy conditions to help included: Terry and Debbie Beals, Jeremy Black, John Frodahl, Dana Morrison, Kristi Parker and Matt Bartlett.
The five-mile run results are as follows: Joe Ewings, 35:04; Angela Ewings, 37:14; Dana Morrison (Weston), 39:39; Tiarah McKeen (Albion), 39:44 and Jessica Hicks (Ellsworth), 41:01.
The three-mile walk results: Elliots, 51:36.
