Contributed Photo Dorothy Weston celebrated her 98th birthday at Ricker Plaza on Sept. 27 and, according to Mim Nichols, was “totally surprised” when friends sang “Happy Birthday” as she entered the community room. Some 60-65 people signed a special card created by Dot Cirulli with Bible verses. Pastor Randall Burns presented Weston with an African violet plant from Military St. Baptist Church where Weston is the eldest member. The church’s Golden Belles singing group presented her with a cream colored porcelain pot trimmed in green with a primrose design to replant the African violet as it grows. Weston, originally from East Hodgdon, worked for many years as a nurses aide in Massachusetts and Florida.
