Constituents back candidates
in final weeks of campaign
Star City a winner with Willette
To the editor:
Part of my job is to help new legislators connect with the people back home when they are in Augusta. For our legislators from the County it can be especially hard. But Rep. Mike Willette makes it look easy.
Rep. Willette worked hard to land a new business for Presque Isle this summer — one that will net 200-plus jobs for the area. There was tough competition from a location in Keller, Texas, but Mike worked hard to “sell” the area and the culture. In the end, PI prevailed.
When Mike discovered that many constituents had unclaimed property they did not know about, Mike tirelessly called them and returned tens of thousands of dollars to their pockets and to the local economy.
He has been equally tireless in helping people learn about the Circuit Breaker tax and rent rebate, or in running interference with state agencies such as DHHS.
When the Wesleyan Church needed help installing their new boilers and was having trouble with the state Fire Marshal, Mike ran interference and got the problem solved within a month.
When he learned that the Veterans Memorial Cemetery group had tried for two years to get extra direction signs for the folks coming down for The Valley, Mike got the signs for them within two weeks.
Presque Isle is a winner with Willette. I encourage his constituents, from all political parties, to reelect him on Nov. 2nd.
